STAFF WELFARE

Indira Gandhi institute of dental sciences provides various services, facilities, and amenities for the intellectual, physical, moral, and economic betterment of their beloved employees. The growth, development, and progress of the institution are entirely dependent on the commitment, hard work, and effort availed by the human resources hence providing them with effective welfare measures is considered the utmost ethical responsibility of governing council. Certain welfare measures are common to both faculties and non-faculties of the Institute. Certain have been stipulated specifically with reference to the faculty of the Institute.

1. LEAVES

i. Casual Leave (CL).
ii. Emergency Casual Leave (ECL).
iii. Special Leave*
iv. On Duty Leave.
v. Earned Leave (EL)*
vi. Compensatory off.
vii. Maternity Leave*

CASUAL LEAVE

Casual leave rules and norms include;

  1. Teaching and lab staff those who are eligible for vacation – 15 days
  2. Staff in Library [1/2 of the vacation can be availed for one staff at a time -17 days
  3. Office staff – 17+3 days [17 Casual Leave + 3 Emergency Casual Leave]
  4. Staff in the clinic [Clinic staff will be eligible for compensatory off for the duty in Holidays-17+3 days [17 Casual Leave + 3 Emergency Casual Leave]
SPECIAL LEAVE (SL)*- DOCTORS:

Special leave may be granted when a faculty wishes to attend conferences/seminars/symposia/practical training/short-term courses etc. in or out of India for up to 5 days in a calendar year.

Special Leave, not counting towards ordinary Casual Leave, may be granted to a member of the staff when he/she is:

  1. Summoned to serve as Juror or Assessor or to give evidence before a court of law as a witness in a civil or a criminal case in which his/her private interests are not at issue.
  2. Deputed to attend a reference library of another Institute or conferences and scientific gatherings of learned and professional societies in the interest of the Institute.
  3. Required to be absent for any other purpose approved by the Board of Governors.

SL may also be granted for other purposes, as approved by the Trust from time to time. The Special Leave can be granted up to a maximum of 5 days in a calendar year. In case it exceeds the 5 days limitation, the cases of those staff have to be placed before the Trust for further consideration. The C.O.O is empowered to examine the purposes for which absence can be treated as “ON DUTY” and purposes for which SL can be granted.

ON DUTY LEAVE (OD)

The Director is empowered to examine the purposes for which absence can be treated as “ON DUTY” and purposes for which “ON DUTY LEAVE” can be granted. Usually granted for university examination duty.

EARNED LEAVE (EL) *- DOCTORS:
  1. The EL admissible to a member of the staff shall be 24 days in a calendar year. After 15 days of continuous service. one EL is credited automatically to the leave account.
  2. EL can be accumulated for up to 60 days. EL encashment facility is not available
  3. The maximum amount of Earned Leave that can be granted to a member of the staff at a time shall be 60 days.
COMPENSATORY OFF (CO):

Compensatory off will be given to clinical staff members working on holidays (as declared as working days by IGIDS). Compensatory leave should be availed within 30 days from the date of accrual. Compensatory leave cannot be taken with any other leave. The maximum number of days of compensatory leave that can be taken at a stretch is 5 including intervening holidays.

MATERNITY LEAVE (ML)
  1. Maternity leave may be granted to female staff, for a period of up to 90 days from the date of its commencement.
  2. Unpaid maternity leaves are granted and the application for leave is supported by a medical certificate.
  3. Maternity leave shall not be debited to the leave account.
  4. Maternity leave may be combined with leave of any other kind except casual leave.

2. TRANSPORT FACILITY

  • The staff both teaching and nonteaching can avail of transport facility free of cost.
  • Transport facility also provided for the official purpose to nearby areas.

3. ACCOMODATION FACILITY

The institution provides free accommodation for faculties inside the campus based on the request submitted.

4. EMPLOYEE STATE INSURANCE SCHEME

As per the “Employees State Insurance act,1948”, the staff of IGIDS with wages less than 21,000 per month are protected with ESI scheme benefits in case of sickness, maternity, death, and disablement due to employment injury. The ESI benefits are provided to staff only after the completion of their probation period.

5. EMPLOYEE PROVIDENT FUND SCHEME

Employees Provident Fund Scheme (EPFS) is a long-term retirement saving scheme managed by the Employees provident fund organization (EPFO) and it is covered under the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. It was implemented in our institution to provide a form of Social Security to the Employees and safeguard their future. A certain percentage is debited from eligible staff’s salary and an equal contribution is provided from the IGIDS management in the provident fund account and the sum total along with interest will be made available to the staff on retirement or upon resignation. Staff getting wages below 15000/month at the time of joining is subject to EPF Scheme

6. CONCESSION SLIPS AND PRIVILAGE CARD

To bestow quality dental care to the staff of our institution and their family, concession slips were provided earlier to the needy and now the system was modified to a privilege card dispensed to both teaching and non-teaching staff for getting concession benefits.

7. SECURITY

The campus is under CCTV surveillance and CCTV visuals are regularly monitored by a chief operating officer. Security guard service is also available on a full-time basis.

8. UNIFORM

The nonteaching staff both clinical and lab assistants are provided with uniforms.

9. REFRESHMENT CENTRES

Cafeteria and well-functioning canteen facility available for staff during and after college hours

10. PERIODIC INCENTIVES/PROMOTION

  • Yearly incentives are provided for faculties.
  • Promotion will be given on accomplishment of necessary parameters.

11. FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Reimbursement of Conference/workshop/seminar/short term course participation fees and professional body membership fee will be provided on submission of certificate and membership proof document to the principal office and only on approval from sanctioning authority after verification of documents.
