Master of Dental Surgery

The postgraduate programme at Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences (IGIDS), affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur, is designed to provide advanced specialised education, comprehensive clinical training, and research-oriented learning in dentistry.

The MDS programme combines advanced theoretical knowledge with evidence-based clinical practice, enabling postgraduate students to develop specialised expertise, sound clinical judgement, and the skills required for contemporary specialist dental practice.

MDS Programmes at IGIDS

MDS - Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics

The programme provides advanced training in the diagnosis, prevention, and management of diseases affecting the dental pulp and periapical tissues, along with comprehensive restorative procedures. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based treatment planning, advanced restorative techniques, endodontic procedures, preservation of natural teeth, and management of complex clinical cases.

MDS - Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics

The programme provides advanced education and clinical training in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of malocclusion and dentofacial abnormalities. Students are trained in comprehensive treatment planning and contemporary orthodontic techniques, with emphasis on functional, aesthetic, and patient-centred outcomes.
